Nominate A Truck Driver For Goodyear’s Highway Hero Award

Since 1983, the Goodyear North America Highway Hero program has honoured professional truck drivers who put themselves in harm’s way to help others.

Do you know of a worthy candidate for this prestigious award? Now is the time to nominate them. Nominations can be made online at here.

“As we join the trucking industry in celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we recognize truck drivers and the role they play in keeping our economy and way of life rolling,” says Gary Medalis, marketing director, Goodyear. “But these professionals deliver more than just goods and services. They are often first responders to on-highway incidents, even before emergency crews arrive on the scene – taking decisive action to save lives.”

Goodyear accepts nominations for this prestigious award from all over the U.S. and Canada. Candidates are narrowed down to three finalists, and a panel of trucking industry media representatives then selects the Highway Hero Award winner.

Nominees must be a full-time truck driver who resides in the U.S. or Canada. The incident where the driver helped someone must have occurred in the U.S. or Canada, on the job or on the way to or from work, and in his/her rig at the time.

Past Goodyear Highway Hero Award winners include a truck driver who rescued a law enforcement officer who was being strangled by a prisoner he was transporting and a truck driver who dove into a pond to pull a child from a sinking car.

Finalists must clear background checks to Goodyear’s satisfaction.

Nominations must be received by Nov. 29, 2018, and the incident must have occurred between Nov. 16, 2017, and Nov. 16, 2018, to qualify for this year’s program.

Nominations also can be mailed to the Goodyear Highway Hero Award Headquarters; Dept. 798A; 200 Innovation Way; Akron, OH 44316.
