Diesel Up Slightly Again

 

This is the fifth week in a row that the average price for a gallon of diesel fuel across the U.S. again has gone up, according to the federal Energy Information Administration.

The average price only went up a small fraction of a cent, however, and it did not go upin every region, according to the EIA’s weekly report on Monday, May 6.

The 6.2-cent increase in California’s average diesel fuel price pushed the average for the West Coast up.

Following are the average prices for diesel fuel by region as reported by the EIA for Monday:

  • U.S. – $3.171, up one-fifth of a cent.
  • East Coast – $3.19, down two-fifths of a cent.
  • New England – $3.245, up nine-tenths of a cent.
  • Central Atlantic – $3.379, down three-fifths of a cent.
  • Lower Atlantic – $3.051, down three-fifths of a cent.
  • Midwest – $3.064, up three-fifths of a cent.
  • Gulf Coast – $2.927, down 1.2, up 4 cents.
  • West Coast – $3.765, up 3.5 cents.
  • West Coast without California – $3.345, down one-tenth of a cent.
  • California – $4.097, up 6.2 cents.
