Tractor Trailer Smashes into Home, Kills 66 yrs Old Lady

accidentA 66-year-old woman was killed when a tractor trailer slammed into a home in Donelson TN early Wednesday morning.

It happened in the 2800 block of McGavock Pike around 3:30 a.m.

The victim, identified as Carol Boo, was inside her bedroom when the truck came barreling through the yard and struck the home.

Several other people were inside the home but were uninjured. The driver of the truck, 34-year-old Leonard Wilson, was also not harmed in the collision.

McGavock Pike was closed while investigators processed the scene.

Crews drained the fuel from the truck before removing it from the house, which suffered a great deal of damage. They were being extra careful because they were concerned the home would collapse when the rig was towed out.

The reason why the truck left the roadway is not known, though Wilson said the trailer began to wobble causing him to lose control.

Police, however; said there is no overt evidence at the scene that Wilson lost control of the trailer. Police also said there are no brake marks on the road.

“I’m just amazed that it traveled that far. I’m surprised the truck driver is not hurt,” said neighbor Bonnie Price.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the mechanics of the truck, as well as the tires and the driver’s log book.

There is no indication that Wilson was impaired at the time of the crash. He consented to a blood test.

Authorities said the semi was hauling 40,000 pounds of pumpkins that he had picked up previously in Virginia and was en route to a Mt. Juliet grocery store when the crash occurred.

No charges were immediately filed.

The investigation is ongoing.
